Kids Creation Camp at the Florence Museum

The Florence Museum is offering a unique series of summer camps.  Each camp will focus on a specific theme and end each Friday with an exhibit of children's work along with a reception for friends and family.  All camps are aligned with the SC state education standards and are based on objects currently on exhibit.  Limited to 25 students, registration due one week in advance.

Ages:  5 through 10
Time: 2:00 - 4:00 pm

Date: July 11 through 15 - Draw Dip and Drip - come make lines dance, colors sing and shapes come alive as we experiment with the tools of an artist.  Campers will learn how to show movement, express emotion, and tell stories through the basic elements of art.

Date: July 18 through 22 - Cotton is King - Explore the days of the Civil War from the home front in Florence, SC.  Girls will make hanky dolls and prepare dishes from the period.  Boys will learn about life in the field and make traveling housewives and enjoy learning camp games.

Date: July 25 through 29 - Recycle into Art - Let's design and create something from something that was once something else!  Campers will think outside the box and explore new ways to make art using recycled materials.  We will also learn the importance of conservation and how we can help save the environment through recycling.
